Bon Voyage to Sunshine

Sunshine’s parents report on GoHuman.com’s Valentine’s day Microcause:

Beloved Friends and Family around the world!  Thank you for your prayers for our precious, much loved and only child Robert Omid aka. Sunshine.

8 years ago we learned of a wonderful therapy program which was beyond our reach until GoHuman.com helped us launch a global fundraiser.  My beloved cousin and her family in Sydney, Australia organized a hugely successful fundraising evening.  Donations from $1 to $6000 surpassed the original goal of $14,900, to also cover needed car repairs and travel costs.  We’re now leaving on a 3 day trip from Wisconsin to Massachusetts.

Our first destination is Chicago as today is a Baha’i Holy Day, the death of the Beloved Bab in Iran in 1850.  In memory of my beloved father, martyred with 3 other Baha’is in Qazvin on July 9, 1982, I have been asked to chant at the Mother Temple of the West in Wilmette, tonight, Friday July 9; at 12:30 p.m. public Devotions in Commemoration of the Bab’s Martyrdom.

We’re honored to start our trip this way, and hope and pray with all our hearts and souls that our precious son’s life will change during this intensive treatment program.  We, his parents, will also be trained, so that, God willing, we can continue treatment after our return.

You will all be in our humble thoughts and prayers at the Temple in Chicago, and we ask for your prayers as well

With utmost love and gratitude; Shohreh and Robert

Economic Freedom

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

1776 in the U.S. is symbolic of the struggle for freedom from those who would tax without representation.  Economic freedom.  Since last July 4 the markets had a wild recovery ride, but in the last month they’re trending dramatically down again.  The power of global government stimulus has run its course, and the fundamental problems have not yet been fixed.  New regulations have been authored and are in various stages of approval, but there is disagreement on what they will or won’t achieve, both positively and negatively.

There are many ways to look at this problem.  I like the chart at bottom with democracy and economic freedom on a grid.  We could discuss the placement of various countries, but to do so we’d have to first discuss the criteria by which we evaluate the terms.  That would lead to other discussions – and it gets pretty complex pretty fast.  Here’s an interesting video that shows there is hope we’ll get it right!

GoHuman.com’s answer to these challenges is to unite and strengthen local entrepreneurs, supported by a marketplace with transparent information.  This allows prices and services to find their own levels, as in so-called free markets.  But by building it from the bottom up, and putting ownership in the hands of the individual, we strip power from “market makers” who manipulate and control the so-called free markets to their advantage.  We welcome your input to this discussion.

Thank you to our members and supporters.  We look forward to working with you to make GoHuman.com even better in the year ahead.

Happy Father’s Day

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Fathers are as different and unique as snowflakes.  More so – as they range across the full saint to sinner spectrum.  But we can all acknowledge that without a father we wouldn’t be here.  And the majority of people on the planet no doubt have very positive feelings related to their father, because of what our fathers represent to us.

For me Father’s day has taken on a much deeper significance over the last 32 months.  From the moment my wife told me I was going to be a daddy my life was transformed.  Zoe, who’s name is Greek for Life – helps me understand its meaning.  Being her daddy offers the inspiration needed to move mountains that need moving in creating a better world.

And that is the tie-in to GoHuman.com, which seeks to Change the way the world works – for the better.

Firing up the Brain Stem

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

In past blogs I’ve compared Corporations to Dinosaurs.

One reason is the “Reptilian Brain Stem” – where we get our fundamental survival instinct – the so-called “Fight Flight” response.

The DNA of even the best intentioned corporations, such as Apple and Google, determines it’s nature.  The purpose of corporate structure is to remove the personal risk to the creators and investors by creating a new entity, under the control of the creators, which acts to secure profits.   Even with the most noble of intentions, once this new entity reaches maturity, and the intentions of noble founders recede into the background, it uses its gargantuan power to dominate and control any market it can, for the profit purpose for which it was created.  Frankenstein style.

Most people don’t see Apple and Google that way.  Apple is cool, hip, stylish, trendy.  It’s customers identify with it, and are willing to pay premium prices.  At the opposite end we have Google.  So nerdy it’s cool, lavishing free stuff on all as it slowly worms it’s way into a position of absolute dominance relative to all information on the planet.  And information is power.

They’ve also had a cozy inbred relationship, even sharing Board seats – until recently.  Here’s an article that shows the Reptilian Nature inherent in their previously symbiotic relationship beginning to emerge.

GoHuman.com’s DNA is different.  I hope you’ll dig deeper to learn why!  We hope you’ll join us in deploying a better evolutionary model.  We hope you’ll use us to change the way your world works.

Are you Coachable?

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

To err is Human, but to repeat mistakes is tragic.  Leaders are confident, visionary, often right, and have a hard time seeing themselves. A Business Coach can make the difference between success and failure.

Have you noticed our “Make it Right” button? GoHuman.com was failing to market itself successfully, hurting us and our customers.  As CEO, I needed a Coach to help me fix what I was contributing to.   A good Coach is selective, so I was relieved to learn the one I wanted feels I am “coachable.”

Are you coachable? For your business to grow and expand, you have to be. It can be daunting, if not insurmountable, to be successful in all needed areas. A good Business Coach can help you consistently bring your A-Game.

Not everyone can afford a personal coach, but if you are coachable, GoHuman.com can help.  We’re proud to announce that Carrie Nicolini, a top-notch certified Business Coach, will provide a powerful, weekly blog for the small business owner.  Visit Coach’s Corner, starting Friday.

Check out Carrie’s credentials and friend her on facebook.  Speaking of facebook, here’s a college photo of me and my swimming coach :)

Memorial Day

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Today is Memorial Day in the United States, a day of reflection on those who died in Military Service. In America it’s politically correct to speak out “in support of our troops” but war is controversial.

GoHuman.com is not afraid to challenge the status quo, question common wisdom and “make people think”. Historically it can be said that most of the men and women who have died in US wars gave their all for their ideals, but probably not all of them did, nor was every war a “just” war. With a history of drafts and volunteers, some “gave all” for the ideals of others or because the Military was a path to a better personal future.

I was born outside the US and have had two non-US passports. I’m now a US citizen, but still see multiple sides. There are many view-points on war, armed struggle and change. I was living in Germany when Dances With Wolves came out, a big hit there for reasons I won’t seek to explain here. Check out Soderbergh’s dual-movie 5+ hours on Che Guevara or other documentaries on civil wars to gain additional perspective.

GoHuman.com seeks to Change the Way Our World Works from the bottom up, one professional reputation and one connection at a time. There are numerous revolutionary principles embedded in the concept, business model and execution. For us Memorial Day is an inspiration to struggle, peacefully, for change. There are numerous ways to get involved, including a number of positions open. Let me know if you are interested.

GoHuman.com is serious about freedom and positive change, about dedicating our lives to a better future for all. Please let us know what you are doing to “Change the Way Your World Works”.

Halfway there!

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

On Valentine’s Day we invited 10,000 people toRobert Moldenhauer by donating $1 or more towards his $14,900 MicroCause.

Robert, AKA Sunshine, now 12, was a heart transplant baby later diagnosed with Autism.  Sunshine’s family carries a burden of medical expenses and the heartbreak of caring for a child who needs their help but can’t communicate.

The Autism Treatment Center of America offers hope – read this  heartwarming report from the UK.  To raise funds for Sunshine’s treatment, the parents started Sunshine Sprouts, posted on GoHuman.com, and we’re spreading the word and donating $1 for every new registration that mentions Sunshine.

Donors are touched by Sunshine’s story, and we are moved by the donors: “A beautiful boy sent from God! I wish you/your family much joy and a long and prosperous life together; filled with wonderful memories!!!!”

We’re a month ahead of schedule, at $7,491, with more coming in daily.  I wish you could feel the spirit of joy and hope filling Sunshine and his family.  Love, prayers and generosity are already working their magic!

To build momentum, Lauren Wood has become GoHuman.com’s MicroCause Correspondent.  She will spread the word and connect us with communities active in the fight against autism.  If you’d like to help, please email Lauren@GoHuman.com or refer@GoHuman.com.

Show Sunshine you care with just $1! And spread the word.

The heart of business

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Inside every local business is a human heart, needing community support.  On Valentine’s day GoHuman.com is introducing micro-causes for the people behind the businesses in our community.

We’re starting in my backyard, Middleton, WI, (CNN/Money’s best place to live in America) where Robert and Shohreh Moldenhauer run Sunshine Sprouts to earn money to help their son, Robert Jr., known as Sunshine.

Sunshine was born with HLHS (a diseased heart) and at 2 weeks had a heart transplant, followed by immune system rejection.  At 2 years old Sunshine was diagnosed with Autism.  Robert and Shohreh need their son to be able to communicate with them about the condition of his heart, literally.

Son-Rise Therapy from the Autism Treatment Center of America has helped the Moldenhauers, but the program is expensive.  GoHuman.com is raising funds to send Sunshine to an intensive program in Massachusetts.  The total program cost is $18,400, plus travel.  The Moldenhauers borrowed a down-payment and obtained a $3,500 scholarship, but need $14,900 to participate in the program.  Learn more on Sunshine’s Website.

Place an order with Sunshine Sprouts or click here to donate.

We seek 10,000 people to contribute $1 or more and will donate $1 in your name for every friend who joins GoHuman and mentions “Sunshine” through March.

Myth, Old Wive’s Tales, Urban Legends! With the advent of the Internet and mass-forwarded email, we’ve all experienced the arrival of some fantastic little story or anecdote that strikes a chord with some element of our experience, and tempts us to forward it on.

Is the Hallmark Postcard virus real?  Will Microsoft really pay me if I forward this?  Is the prayer request for Cindy Hogman legit?  Did the driver of a Winnebago receive $1.75M for crashing while believing “cruise control” meant auto-pilot?

Snopes.com is a gem of a site for people who want the truth on Internet spawned funmail. Snopes is a trusted “phone-a-friend” site to check the facts and make sure we are not operating under a variety of false illusions, or guilty of spreading false information.

But when it comes to finding the best local services, providers of quality of their work, who you gonna call?  GoHuman.com, of course.

What are you hungry for?

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

I’ve been cooking up this blog since I lived in Germany in the early 90s.  I read “Food 2000″, a coffee-table book, touting “food miracles” – scientists solving world hunger and such.  It was sponsored propaganda against Alliance 90/The Greens.  I was horrified by what I saw.

I was just beginning to recover from an “incurable” auto-immune-related condition little understood by Medical Science, using dietary and other natural methods.  I told myself I would help change the system of systems.

Now Agribusiness is moving from propaganda to sinister control.  Scientific American, explains how Bio-engineering companies own articles published about their seed. Cropchoice.com explains how farmers using seed infected by patented seed are guilty of stealing.  Food Inc. is eating up the conscience of consumers.  Watch it, and take a symbolic stand, however small.

Yesterday Forbes arrived, with Monsanto on the cover as Company of the year.  Forbes’ arrogance since the economic meltdown has shocked this longtime reader.  The Frankenstein monster of business is  running rampant.  Our food supply is controlled by companies bio-engineered for greed.

Greg Brown sings “I watched my country turn into a coast-to-coast strip mall and I cried out in a song: if we could do all that in thirty years, then please tell me you all – why does good change take so long?”  Join us and speed up change.
