Bon Voyage to Sunshine

Sunshine’s parents report on GoHuman.com’s Valentine’s day Microcause:

Beloved Friends and Family around the world!  Thank you for your prayers for our precious, much loved and only child Robert Omid aka. Sunshine.

8 years ago we learned of a wonderful therapy program which was beyond our reach until GoHuman.com helped us launch a global fundraiser.  My beloved cousin and her family in Sydney, Australia organized a hugely successful fundraising evening.  Donations from $1 to $6000 surpassed the original goal of $14,900, to also cover needed car repairs and travel costs.  We’re now leaving on a 3 day trip from Wisconsin to Massachusetts.

Our first destination is Chicago as today is a Baha’i Holy Day, the death of the Beloved Bab in Iran in 1850.  In memory of my beloved father, martyred with 3 other Baha’is in Qazvin on July 9, 1982, I have been asked to chant at the Mother Temple of the West in Wilmette, tonight, Friday July 9; at 12:30 p.m. public Devotions in Commemoration of the Bab’s Martyrdom.

We’re honored to start our trip this way, and hope and pray with all our hearts and souls that our precious son’s life will change during this intensive treatment program.  We, his parents, will also be trained, so that, God willing, we can continue treatment after our return.

You will all be in our humble thoughts and prayers at the Temple in Chicago, and we ask for your prayers as well

With utmost love and gratitude; Shohreh and Robert
Sunshine’s grateful parents

MicroCause Update

Monday, April 19th, 2010

We have come to the half-way mark of April, Autism Awareness Month, and are about two months away from our June 15th deadline to raise the much needed money to help this wonderful family in need.  As of April 15th we have raised $8,155.79 of the needed $14,900 to ensure Sunshine gets the treatment he needs at the Autism Treatment Centers of America.  I have had some wonderful success in reaching out to individuals and the Autism Community overall these past few weeks and want to just give a brief recap on those efforts.

I was invited to become a member and post a blog on Autism Blogger, an Autism networking site, devoted to spreading awareness and connecting families who are afflicted with this condition.

I also was invited to join, and subsequently reached out to the creators of Crowdspring, who featured GoHuman and Sunshine’s cause in their Small Business Spotlight of the week .

I was also invited to join, and blog on Autisable, a new Autism community started by the creators of the blogging community, Xanga.

Having just moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, I am making friends and spreading the word about Sunshine and GoHuman to any and all I meet.  I was also fortunate to make acquaintance with Karyn Vilendre, owner of Twin Cities Cheap, and hope to be working with her further in the upcoming weeks.

All in all the word is spreading, slowly but surely, and as we gain momentum, I look so forward to the day when we’ve raised the funds to be able to send Sunshine and his family to the Autism Treatment Centers of America.

Halfway there!

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

On Valentine’s Day we invited 10,000 people toRobert Moldenhauer by donating $1 or more towards his $14,900 MicroCause.

Robert, AKA Sunshine, now 12, was a heart transplant baby later diagnosed with Autism.  Sunshine’s family carries a burden of medical expenses and the heartbreak of caring for a child who needs their help but can’t communicate.

The Autism Treatment Center of America offers hope – read this  heartwarming report from the UK.  To raise funds for Sunshine’s treatment, the parents started Sunshine Sprouts, posted on GoHuman.com, and we’re spreading the word and donating $1 for every new registration that mentions Sunshine.

Donors are touched by Sunshine’s story, and we are moved by the donors: “A beautiful boy sent from God! I wish you/your family much joy and a long and prosperous life together; filled with wonderful memories!!!!”

We’re a month ahead of schedule, at $7,491, with more coming in daily.  I wish you could feel the spirit of joy and hope filling Sunshine and his family.  Love, prayers and generosity are already working their magic!

To build momentum, Lauren Wood has become GoHuman.com’s MicroCause Correspondent.  She will spread the word and connect us with communities active in the fight against autism.  If you’d like to help, please email Lauren@GoHuman.com or refer@GoHuman.com.

Show Sunshine you care with just $1! And spread the word.
