Bon Voyage to Sunshine

Sunshine’s parents report on GoHuman.com’s Valentine’s day Microcause:

Beloved Friends and Family around the world!  Thank you for your prayers for our precious, much loved and only child Robert Omid aka. Sunshine.

8 years ago we learned of a wonderful therapy program which was beyond our reach until GoHuman.com helped us launch a global fundraiser.  My beloved cousin and her family in Sydney, Australia organized a hugely successful fundraising evening.  Donations from $1 to $6000 surpassed the original goal of $14,900, to also cover needed car repairs and travel costs.  We’re now leaving on a 3 day trip from Wisconsin to Massachusetts.

Our first destination is Chicago as today is a Baha’i Holy Day, the death of the Beloved Bab in Iran in 1850.  In memory of my beloved father, martyred with 3 other Baha’is in Qazvin on July 9, 1982, I have been asked to chant at the Mother Temple of the West in Wilmette, tonight, Friday July 9; at 12:30 p.m. public Devotions in Commemoration of the Bab’s Martyrdom.

We’re honored to start our trip this way, and hope and pray with all our hearts and souls that our precious son’s life will change during this intensive treatment program.  We, his parents, will also be trained, so that, God willing, we can continue treatment after our return.

You will all be in our humble thoughts and prayers at the Temple in Chicago, and we ask for your prayers as well

With utmost love and gratitude; Shohreh and Robert

Halfway there!

On Valentine’s Day we invited 10,000 people toRobert Moldenhauer by donating $1 or more towards his $14,900 MicroCause.

Robert, AKA Sunshine, now 12, was a heart transplant baby later diagnosed with Autism.  Sunshine’s family carries a burden of medical expenses and the heartbreak of caring for a child who needs their help but can’t communicate.

The Autism Treatment Center of America offers hope – read this  heartwarming report from the UK.  To raise funds for Sunshine’s treatment, the parents started Sunshine Sprouts, posted on GoHuman.com, and we’re spreading the word and donating $1 for every new registration that mentions Sunshine.

Donors are touched by Sunshine’s story, and we are moved by the donors: “A beautiful boy sent from God! I wish you/your family much joy and a long and prosperous life together; filled with wonderful memories!!!!”

We’re a month ahead of schedule, at $7,491, with more coming in daily.  I wish you could feel the spirit of joy and hope filling Sunshine and his family.  Love, prayers and generosity are already working their magic!

To build momentum, Lauren Wood has become GoHuman.com’s MicroCause Correspondent.  She will spread the word and connect us with communities active in the fight against autism.  If you’d like to help, please email Lauren@GoHuman.com or refer@GoHuman.com.

Show Sunshine you care with just $1! And spread the word.

The heart of business

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Inside every local business is a human heart, needing community support.  On Valentine’s day GoHuman.com is introducing micro-causes for the people behind the businesses in our community.

We’re starting in my backyard, Middleton, WI, (CNN/Money’s best place to live in America) where Robert and Shohreh Moldenhauer run Sunshine Sprouts to earn money to help their son, Robert Jr., known as Sunshine.

Sunshine was born with HLHS (a diseased heart) and at 2 weeks had a heart transplant, followed by immune system rejection.  At 2 years old Sunshine was diagnosed with Autism.  Robert and Shohreh need their son to be able to communicate with them about the condition of his heart, literally.

Son-Rise Therapy from the Autism Treatment Center of America has helped the Moldenhauers, but the program is expensive.  GoHuman.com is raising funds to send Sunshine to an intensive program in Massachusetts.  The total program cost is $18,400, plus travel.  The Moldenhauers borrowed a down-payment and obtained a $3,500 scholarship, but need $14,900 to participate in the program.  Learn more on Sunshine’s Website.

Place an order with Sunshine Sprouts or click here to donate.

We seek 10,000 people to contribute $1 or more and will donate $1 in your name for every friend who joins GoHuman and mentions “Sunshine” through March.
