While progressive in many ways for a tech company, they are still clearly motivated by profit. So long as they remain insanely profitable, I don't worry much for the security of the personal data they obtain. But if that profit is ever threatened, I'm afraid that evil may persevere. I really hope it's not the case, but it's one of the main reasons I don't use Gmail on a regular basis. I have a similarly tentative amount of enthusiasm for Google’s ability to continue doing good.
